Meet Mrs. Malone

Welcome to 7th grade Honors English! I am excited to be your teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. I know we will have a wonderful year together.

I am entering my 16th year in the Elk Grove Unified School District. The first four years of my career I taught at Smedberg Middle School. The past eleven years of my career have been at Albiani Middle School where I have taught both 7th and 8th grade. During my teaching tenure I have taught all levels of English from Lab to Honors. I am excited to teach Honors English 7 and English Workshop/AVID this year. Middle school is where my heart lies.

I was born in Redwood City, CA but have lived most of my life in Elk Grove. I went to Kerr Middle School and Florin High School. It was at Florin High that I met a few very influential teachers that sparked my love for teaching. I then went on to Sacramento State and received my BA in English, teaching credential, and Masters degree in Education with an emphasis on gender equity in the classroom.

My husband and I have two wonderful children. Our son Mason is six years old and entered first grade this year. He is full of spunk and energy and keeps us very busy. Our daughter Morgan is a year and a half and is sweet and sassy and keeps us on our toes.

Around our house you can hear us cheering for the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, and the Sacramento Kings. We watch sports year round and are giving Mason an opportunity to try any sport that he is interested in -- which seems like all of them these days. On any given evening you can find Mason and the neighborhood kids playing a game of basketball on the hoop out front, tossing around and hitting a baseball, or playing a game of street hockey. Even Morgan loves to get in the action. With two little ones my TV watching and book reading time has all but disappeared, but one day I know that will all change. For now, we play!
