2017-2018 - INCOMING 7th and 8th Graders

A few important notes:

  • Athletic Physicals
    • Must be performed by an MD, DO, PA, or NP.
    • They health care provider must: sign the form, date the form, stamp the form, and mark a box in the "recommendations" section.
    • Must be on or after May 1, 2017.
  • Completed Athletic Clearance Packets
    • Must be on file in the Athletic Office BEFORE a student may participate in tryouts, practices, and/or competitions.
  • If you are planning to participate in CROSS COUNTRY or VOLLEYBALL, please complete your Athletic Clearance Packet over the summer and turn it in before school starts or during the first week of school.  Cross Country and Volleyball will begin on third and fifth days of school, respectively.
  • You will need a new Athletic Clearance Packet each school year.
  • You only need one Athletic Clearance Packet for the entire school year.


If you are interested in a competitive sport at Albiani during the 2017-2018 school year, please read the following.

  • All forms must be complete and turned in to the Athletic Office in Student Services BEFORE a student may tryout, practice, or compete.
    • Incomplete packets will be returned to the student to be completed and re-submitted.
  • The bottom half of the Sports Physical form must be completed by a Health Care Provider (MD, DO, PA, or NP.)
    • Please make sure the health care provider has:
      • signed the form.
      • stamped the form.
      • dated the form.
      • checked an option in the "Recommendation" box.
  • Forms are available to the left of this message.
    • Click "KAMS ATHLETIC CLEARANCE" to download and print the forms.
  • Paper packets are available in Student Services.

A new packet must be completed and submitted for each school year in which you want to participate in athletics.  


Only one packet is necessary each year, even if participating in multiple sports.


Tentative/approximate start dates for competitive teams at KAMS are:

  • Boys and Girls Cross Country (no tryouts, no cuts) -  August 14, 2017
  • 7th Grade Girls Volleyball AND 8th Grade Girls Volleyball (tryouts and limited number of team members) - August 16, 2017
  • 8th Grade Boys Basketball AND 8th Grade Girls Basketball (tryouts and limited number of team members) - October 13, 2017
  • Boys and Girls Wrestling (3rd-8th grade - no tryouts, no cuts)- November 27, 2017
  • 7th Grade Boys Basketball AND 7th Grade Girls Basketball (tryouts and limited number of participants) - January 4, 2018
  • Boys and Girls Track and Field (no tryouts, no cuts) - March 5, 2017

Please note, above dates are subject to change. All above teams will practice daily and complete against students from other middle schools off-site and/or at KAMS.  Transportation to off-site events is the responsibility of parents/guardians with the exception of Track and Field.  All student-athletes must be picked up immediately following practices and competitions.  (There are no late busses for student-athletes.)

INTRAMURALS - Intramurals take place completely at KAMS against other KAMS students and are open to all KAMS students.  There are no tryouts and no cuts.  The Athletic Clearance Packet detailed above does NOT need to be completed for intramural participation.Please see the Intramural page under the Athletics tab for more information.

Competitive Guidelines


  1. Have earned a “C” average (2.0 GPA) in their overall district academic program for the grade of record prior to their participation.
  2. Meet standards of satisfactory citizenship 
  3. Have a satisfactory attendance record as defined by Board Policy.

Transportation Note

Be advised that transportation to/from practices and competitions is not provided by KAMS/EGUSD, with the exception of transportation to and from away meets for Track and Field.
